The adventures of Shaun — a man revered as a god in some ancient cultures.
Wednesday: the Day of the North American Caribou.
Today has been a day of much content on my behalf. I’m not exactly sure why — naturally that is a reason to be paranoid. However, I am not paranoid, but I am instead quite happy. My mood is not one of extreme happiness, nor is it one of any sort of sadness; I’m just at ease with everything around me. This feeling may stem from a casual awakening this morning followed by a test in Environmental Geography.
Test days in classes are always the best. You always get out of class earlier and don’t have to worry about any new material.
That’s today. Tomorrow I am going to a ball.
HOWEVER — This is no ordinary ball; this is a charity ball. One filled with games and door prizes. I’m pretty excited about it, although my outside appearance would never reflect this excitement. I’m very skilled at maintaining a calm exterior when deep down inside I am jumping up and down.
Getting prepared for this ball took a lot of work. It is a semi-formal affair, and while I’m sure the condition of my dress (”dress” in the general sense of the word) will not be fiercely judged, I want to look my best. It would be a sin to make the two people I’m joining appear as anything but absolutely beautiful — me showing up wearing only Speedo? shorts and rainbow suspenders might act contrary to my stated objective.
Not to say the urge to dress that way wasn’t there. Trust me, it’s always there.
Anyway, it did take a lot of work to get ready. I scoured the racks of every single thrift store I could find in the greater Dayton area — that’s a lot of thrift stores too. Sadly, everything reeked of 1970s vintage clothing and heavy drug addictions. So, I took my search elsewhere — Men’s Wearhouse. I got a “decent” deal on a suit and I was ready. By the way, do not ask what “decent” means.
Aside: For the record, my thrift store quest was not a total loss. I found an EXCELLENT long coat for only $1.50. It is currently being dry cleaned at 8.67 times its cost ($13.00).
So, to sum up my entry… 1) My day is pretty decent so far, 2) I am really excited about the ball tomorrow night, and 3) My Speedo? shorts and rainbow suspender ensemble will have to wait until the next charity ball I attend…
