Today is Tuesday.

The most unexpected and horrible thing happened this weekend — my computer monitor died. I think we all should take a moment and remember the monitor for the full two weeks of service it gave me. I had a strange feeling it would soon crap out on me, but I just didn’t think it would happen so soon.

Monitor, we hardly knew ye.

Although I pretend like I cared about this monitor, I really did not. In fact, I’m pretty glad it’s gone. “Glad it’s gone?” you ask. “Yes,” I reply, “I’m glad it’s gone.”

“Shaun, you’re so attractive. How can you be glad the monitor is gone?” you persist. I coldy reply, “Eh. I never liked it.”

Actually, I’m glad my old monitor is gone because in its place, CNS had the graciousness to provide me with a new 17″ one. Oh, how fate has finally worked in my favor. I was REALLY hoping for an LCD display or something, but beggars can’t be choosers I guess.

Interestingly enough, I have found that this monitor does attract dust a bit more than the old one; however, I don’t ever clean my room, so it’s not a very big problem.

I’ve gone on about the monitor long enough. I should talk about my weekend.

Friday was a pretty decent day. I hung out with Angie, Beth, Maria, and… I think that’s it. As much as I hate to say it because it sounds so very “Brady Bunch”, we made brownies. When I say “we,” I mean “Angie.” There was, as there almost ALWAYS is, a movie watched on Friday. The movie: Girl with a Pearl Earring. My verdict: Pretty entertaining. I think if I watched it again by myself I could appreciate it more. It’s very difficult for me to concentrate whenever I watch movies with my friends.

So, Friday saw brownies and a pretty good movie; Saturday was quite different. I worked at the Archives for 4 hours. That wasn’t exactly the most thrilling 4 hours of my life, but I got a respectable amount of work completed, so I guess that’s good. When I got back from my job though, the monitor killed itself (or perhaps was killed by a jealous lover…?). So, there I was without a monitor.

Note: Yes, I got a job for the year. I’m not sure if I mentioned it or not. I work in the Archives of the library, so I’m surrounded by history every day. I love it.

At first, I thought very little of what had just happened to the monitor. “I can manage without my computer,” I declared, striking a very masculine pose. “I still have my precious, precious TV.”

I was kind of wrong.

I never realized just how much I used my computer. I really have become quite dependent on it. But, not as one would think. I learned there was more I use my computer for than just looking up pornography sites at 2 a.m. Apparently, I use my computer to “look stuff up.”

Yes, that’s right. I probably wanted to use my computer at least 5 times in an hour JUST TO LOOK STUFF UP I DIDN’T KNOW! I’m pretty excited about that. I don’t know why, but I am.

Enough of Saturday though; onto Sunday. Sunday, I fenced. That’s really all I ever do on Sunday.

Now, as the French say… “J’aime le vin. O? mon fromage est?”

I think that’s a lesson all of us can learn…
