The adventures of Shaun — a man revered as a god in some ancient cultures.
Well, it’s Thursday.
Last night was a pretty boring one. The first part was pretty good; Jason and I went to Barnes and Noble where I looked @ Eric Idle’s new book. What I read was really funny. In fact, I laughed out loud at one part. There’s a recurring joke throughout the whole book about Michael Palin (one of the other Pythons). I’m pretty sure it was one of the Palin jokes that made me laugh.
Also, there was a quote on the back cover of the book that I really liked for some reason. It was one of the rave reviews printed on everything from the best book (like this one) to the worst book (like The Great Gatsby). The quote was, “Eric Idle is funny incarnate.” Actually, I’m not sure if that was the exact quote so maybe that was just a paraphrasing. Anyway, I thought that was a really interesting thing to say about an author. At least, I did at the time. Now, after seeing it again, I’m not so sure it was all that witty. It strikes me as boring.
Oh well.
Anyway, for anyone interested, the book is called The Greedy Bastard Diary: A Comic Tour of America by Eric Idle. Published by Harper Collins with an ISBN number of 0-06-075864-3. Buy it now. Now! NOW!!!
Note: For the record, this is not a solicited entry. I was not paid to say the book was great. I just really liked it.
Anyway, the book was a pretty neat event in the night, but it didn’t take up as much time as one would have hoped. Jason studied while we were at the bookstore, so I didn’t really have too much contact with him. After we came back to town, Jason went home. I, being the awesome person that I am, watched American Idol with my mom. I think I’m the only one reading this journal who is the least bit interested in AI, so I won’t get heavy with the details, but I didn’t like either of the girls who were axed, but I was surprised the Anthony Fedorov guy stayed. He really defines “tool” in my book. Actually, a lot of people on there do. Still, I got sucked into the show. I really don’t know what happened.
Hmm… I just noticed something.
In one paragraph I talked about Eric Idle, one of the wittiest and most original men ever, and in the next I talked about American Idol, which is far from original or very witty.
I don’t think this has ever happened before in the history of the world. This is the first time anyone has ever mentioned Eric Idle and American Idol in the same entry before. In fact, I’d say there’s a pretty good chance this is the first time it’s ever happened in the same journal, let alone entry. I am either one of the world’s greatest contributors to society or a cultural villian.
The inherent duality there is interesting, I think.
That’s all for now though. Until next time…
no one else watches american idol?!
my word, shaun, who do you have to owe your addiction to?

i just cant get over that you didnt just come over.
my word.
