The adventures of Shaun — a man revered as a god in some ancient cultures.
So, it’s Friday.
I’m sitting here in the computer after a fun night with Jason. It was most exciting. We went to a party where there were a bunch of his friends from the Police Academy. They are really funny people. Also, the whole situation was a bit absurd. There I was in a room with a bunch of future police officers knocking back a bunch of cold ones and watching the NCAA toournament. For a scant two hours and 30 minutes tonight, I felt like an actual guy. Not a crazy hybrid one who speaks both like William Shakespeare and Tupac at the exact same time. I know this is a very hard thought to imagine, but it has happened before.
I would add more about today, but that’s really the most interesting part.
Last night was quite a lot of fun though. I had originally intended to write about it last night, but I just didn’t feel like being on the computer; I should note that the computer wasn’t working and I didn’t feel like fixing it too. That’s another reason why I didn’t write about it.
Anyway, Emily and I hung out. This in and of itself was strange because Emily and I had not ever hung out. In fact, I don’t think we had ever really seen each other out of school—other than the occasional meeting for a couple of minutes. We were both pretty bored because Jacki was gone and decided we would do something about it. After the night was finished, I was kind of disappointed I had never gotten to know her better in high school. I’m sure we could’ve had some fun times. At that time though, I was too busy being attached at the hip to my ex-girlfriend Michelle to notice any other human being.
There Emily and I were though, hanging out almost like we had known each other for a very long time. It was a lot of fun.
I had no idea what we might do at first, but then I suggested we go see a movie. This was exciting because we went to see Ocean’s Twelve, a movie I’ve been wanting to see for a long time; Jason and Jacki both didn’t really seem all that interested in watching it. Jacki hadn’t seen and Jason didn’t like the first Ocean’s movie. I, on the other hand, loved it. In fact, I watched it almost every day after school for a solid 6 months. I didn’t have (and continue not to have) a life.
Emily and I watched it though. I liked it, even though it was one of the most predictable movies I’ve seen in a long while. Also, it started out sub-par, but since I had paid $2.50 (an enormous amount for me) to see it, I stuck it out. In the end, I was pretty content with it. I think Emily liked it too. She’s not here to speak on her behalf, so I’ll just say that she did.
After the movie, we headed over to Long John Silver’s because I hadn’t eaten there for a long time. I managed to offend the clerk who took our order with my lack of manners and Emily got to ring the bell. That’s all there was in that trip, really. In fact, that’s all one could want in life: a social faux pas and a large bell.
After LJS’s Emily and I headed back to her place. On the way, I saw a sign that said, “Bubble Warehouse,” so I turned off the road and almost fishtailed into a parking spot only to discover the sign actually said, “Bubble Washhouse.” I didn’t want to look like I had almost killed both of us for no reason. I tried to play it off like I wanted to play the claw game that I knew would be inside that laundromat. Emily didn’t buy it. That’s probably good. I would’ve been concerned if she had.
Following that incident, we managed to make back to her house alive. We sat down in her basement/room and decided to watch everyone’s favorite movie, Anchorman. Oh—and we painted. Well, Emily painted a real picture, I just doodled. When I finished, I had a picture of a man with feet for hands wearing a Russian fur hat standing next to an ocean with a yellow submarine rising out of the water underneath a flying Tyrannosaurus Rex who was being shot down by a 1960s-style MiG. Plus, there was an awesome tree in the background. For some reason Emily kept it; if anyone’s interested, ask her to see it. I’m kind of curious if she ended up throwing it away or not. I’m not trying to say she would be rude like that or anything, but truly the painting was horrible.
That was it for the night though. I left at about 11:30 so that I would make it back home in time for Adult Swim. I polished off two episodes of Aqua Teen Hunger Force and then went to sleep or something very much like it. That was my night with Emily. It was a lot of fun and hopefully in the future we can hang out again.
Until later…
Shaun a real guy…I don’t belive it! And aww I got all excited when I saw you wrote about the bubble warehouse, then I noticed it was just your mistake and now I am very let down.
