It is Friday.

Scheiße, it’s already Friday. Really, it doesn’t feel like the end of the week. In fact, it only feels like the middle of the week. I didn’t realize it even was Saturday until I sat down and wrote it. Wait—I mean Friday. It’s Friday. I didn’t know it was that day, but it is. That day is Friday. Today. Viernes. Vendredi. Freitag. Sexta-feira. ???????. Friday.

God bless you, pocket translator.

So, yesterday (not Friday, but Thursday) was pretty fun. Jason, Jacki and I did stuff. If I recall, we played Scrabble and it was bloody awesome. Lately, we’ve all been doing quite good at that game. Well, I kind of have. We’ve been scoring around 180 points a game. That’s probably a little bit of a high estimate, but I’m not too far off. I think we should tempt our fates and have at it with the professionals. We’ll give them a little taste of our abilities so they can laugh at us because the truly great Scrabble players usually average around 400 points a game.

Eh… we’re almost halfway there, I guess.

After Scrabble, the three of us ended up going to the park where I sat on a swing that really hurt my bottom. I didn’t swing for very long because it was very uncomfortable. I think it was just that my wallet was rather large. It’s not full of money, mind you. No. It’s full of random credit card-sized objects. Also, the world’s most awesome license picture ever.

When we were finished sucking all the fun out of the park that it could offer, we headed back to our individual abodes (not “adobes,” Jason). Jacki went to pick up her friend Kyle in Indianapolis because he flew in from Florida and Jason went to sleep, I think. I just sat around doing stuff. I honestly don’t remember what I did. I do remember that I got really frustrated with it though. At about 1:12 a.m., Jacki called me to find out if I wanted to go to Steak ‘n’ Shake as we had suggested to each other earlier. I said, “Sure.” We left shortly thereafter.

Our arrival at Steak ‘n’ Shake was sort of anti-climactic. I suppose that’s because I’ve seen one too many episodes of Cheers. Every time I walk into a restaurant, I honestly do expect people to be like, “Shaun!” Then, I sit down and the person beside me says, “How’s the world treatin’ you, Mr. Lewis?” As one can tell, my life is pretty much just a series of bitter disappointments because that doesn’t happen often. Or, ever, for that matter. Plus, Steak ‘n’ Shake was completely dead. We were the only people in there.

Once we sat down, Jacki and I played our third game of Scrabble for the day; I believe it was Kyle’s first.

Aside: OK, Jason, Jacki and I are the biggest Scrabble nerds in the entire universe. Well, we’re not the worst, but we’re certainly not your everyday players. We were able to play Scrabble in S ‘n’ S because all three of us own a Travel Scrabble. It’s about the size of a case of CDs and Jason and I both keep ours in our cars for moments like that. Unfortunately, I’m the nerdiest of the nerds because I was the last one to get one. I guess I just can’t help following the group, you know?

The game ended up being the LONGEST game of Scrabble ever played. It just drug on and on and on. It also ended up being a very close game in the end. Jacki won though because she is a superior player. I really just didn’t have any luck yesterday. All of my games were sub-par. Such is the nature of life, I suppose.

Upon leaving Steak ‘n’ Shake, we headed over to Meijer to look at the dorky fish (they are freakish black ones that Jacki likes to reduce her karma with by pointing and laughing at them) and buy hygiene products. I bought deodorant and Jacki bought mousse because, and I quote, “she is the only person to buy mousse since the 1980s.” By the time we left it was around 4 in the morning and I was pretty beat.

We got home and I went straight to bed by way of the computer. I added a few “Shaun Lewis style” extra touches to the new backend of the journal and then fell asleep. It was truly wonderful.

As for today, I haven’t done much. I think Kyle and Jacki want to see Fever Pitch at the Byjo in Germantown. I’m kind of excited about that because I’ve only been to the Byjo one other time in my life and I recall liking it a lot. It had an old school 1930s movie theater feel to it. Hopefully I was right and I did actually like it. I’m pretty excited about Fever Pitch too because I’ve been on a Boston kick lately. It’s a movie about the Boston Red Soxs or something.

Yeah. How about that?
