The adventures of Shaun — a man revered as a god in some ancient cultures.
Mother of God, it’s Wednesday.
So, I haven’t written too much in the last few days. I suppose there is a good reason for this, but I don’t know what it is. I go through phases when I update like crazy and other periods when there is never anything new. This period right now would probably be the latter. I’ve been thinking a lot lately instead of writing. Mostly, I’ve been thinking about dinosaurs etc. but sometimes an actual thought pops in my head.
And now, a quick weekend summary and then I want to write about something else.
Jacki’s friend Kyle came down to visit this weekend and I ended up hanging out a lot with him and Jacki. It was good times. Kyle is apparently crazy and likes Dayton, but I will not hold that against him. To be fair, it was rainy and the putrid aroma of my fair city wasn’t able to blanket the streets like it usually does; that could be the cause of Kyle’s unusual act of liking Dayton. On Friday, Him, Jacki and I went to the Byjo to see Fever Pitch, which was a pretty good movie. It was about Boston and as we know, I’ve been on a Boston kick lately.
The Byjo is a really small theater in Germantown (which also happens to be quite small). It’s defintely one of those old school theaters that used to exist but have been muscled out by newer and bigger theaters. It was pretty awesome when we went because I believe we were the only people between the ages of 19 and 21 there. The age groups represented best were 0-13 and then 35-dead. Mostly the first one. There were A LOT of kids there. It seemed almost like they started multiplying during the movie too. Of course, I couldn’t count any of them because they weren’t sitting still during the movie; they were all running around and junk. I didn’t mind too much though because one of them tripped and fell near the screen.
I like it when little kids fall. (I’ll kill anyone who comments on that sentence.)
Saturday was a good day, but it’s what I want to talk about, so I can’t say anymore right now. Sunday was pretty excellent. I don’t really remember what I did. Monday was good too and so was Tuesday. (I’m sort of speeding this along, if you can’t tell.)
SATURDAY
On Saturday, I went to the circus.
Oh yeah. That’s right. I said it.
It was a really good time. I hadn’t been to the circus for QUITE long time and I had forgotten how much I loved circi. I love them quite a bit. Jacki had never been to the circus though. I don’t know if Kyle had either. Jason and I were a bit worried that it might push Jacki into sensory overload and her heart would explode or something. Seriously, that was a concern. Not so much that her heart would explode, I guess, but more that she would lose all bodily control and end up sitting in her chair involuntarily crying and throwing up on herself. Now THAT would have been a sight, albeit a frightening one.
The show started out like it was catered just to me. I had been pretty excited about bears earlier and I had hoped there would be some in this circus. I said to Jacki, “If there are dancing bears, Jacki, I think I’ll end up crying out of joy.” Then, the announcer said, “And now, performing bears.” It was bloody awesome. I didn’t end up crying, which is probably a good thing because I never would’ve lived that down.
As far as the other acts go, there were a few acrobats, a crazy guy who I think actually wanted to DIE, a couple of clowns, some cats (including a high-diving one), elephants, a horse, and a really funny comedian who spoke only with a whistle (he was from Honduras or something) and picked people from the audience to have a mock boxing fight. I’m pretty sure one of the guys he picked was in cahoots with him because he showed up a few acts before the comedian, was by hisself, and didn’t come back after intermission. Whatever, I guess.
I looked over a few times during the show and everyone (Jacki, Jason and Kyle) seemed to be having an excellent time; Jacki especially. I was sitting next to her and I looked over a few times and she had on a huge grin. With eyes wide from excitement, the changing colors of the center ring danced back and forth on her face. I’m pretty sure she was in her own little heaven right then. I think all of us were though. I also think words just cannot describe it all anymore too.
Kyle was a pretty nice kid. I’m quite glad that he didn’t have a boring time and that his Dayton trip was somewhat memorable. Hopefully he’ll come back sometime and then we’ll all have another excuse to go to the circus again. Really though—who needs an excuse?
